McLachlan triumphs at Ebotse

SANLAM AMATURE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPSSilver Lakes golfer Keegan McLachlan held off a charging Dylan Naidoo and Brandon Gildenhuys at Ebotse Links on 17 Sunday to qualify for the Glacier Junior Series National Final in October.

The 16-year-old McLachlan, who won the Larry Nestadt Tournament on the Glacier Junior Series with a solid 70, lost in playoff two weeks ago against another great contender on the Series, Marco Steyn, but made this most of this Sunday’s opportunity to book his spot for the Final.

In the B-Division, Dylan Rees carded a 75 to secure first place while the youngest golfer in the field, 8-year-old Marno Lange won the C Division’s Individual Stableford competition.

Junior golfers now only have two more opportunities to ensure qualification for the Glacier Junior Series National Final.

The second last event will be played at Zwartkop Country Club on 30 August, and the last Glacier Junior Series event will be hosted by Humewood in the Eastern Cape on 13 September.

The Glacier Junior Series National Final takes place from 7-9 October at Vaal de Grace in Parys and will feature all the A Division winners from all of the tournaments held this year.
