Broomhead wins back to back

The heatwave had to be broken by some lightning and rain eventually and unfortunately with less than 9 holes to play in the 2023 GNGU Open, the tournament had to be reduced to a 54 hole event due to lightning.
The tournament showed some great golf, with Altin van der Merwe shooting a cool 65 in round 1 to take the lead, but after round 2 he was tied with KZN’s Jonathan Broomhead.  Jonathan’s excellent form continued after winning the FS Open trophy just last weekend, and shooting rounds of 68, 67 and 67 he won the tournament on 202 (-14), 4 shots ahead of Altin.

A big thank you to Wingate Park Country Club’s members for giving up the course for the weekend.  To their staff, management and Committee thank you for your hospitality.  The course was in absolute immaculate condition and a privilege for the participants to play.

To Galvin Green, new partners of Gauteng North Golf Union, thank you for your sponsorship towards this event.
