The 2018 Regional Champion of Champions was held on 22 July, with the Men’s tournament taking place at Blue Valley and the Women’s tournament at Centurion Country Club.
We congratulate all participants who made it through to the regional finals and participated in the tournament – all divisions were closely contested!

Also, congratulations to the senior champions, Robin Ashby from Zwartkop CC and Karin Watts from Services GC.
Kiera Floyd from Ebotse Golf Club was the only player to shoot a sub par round in the 3 rounds of the 2018 GNGU Women’s Open and with rounds of 73, 75 and 71 managed to lift the 2018 GNGU Women’s Open trophy, This was a comprehensive victory, with her nearest rivals 6 shots behind her.
Lindi Coetzee from Services won the Closed tournament on a count out.
The B Division was closely fought, with Randpark’s Valda for and Pretoria Country Club’s Bronwyn Doeg both finishing in tied first. However, after the first playoff hole, the 18th at Silver Lakes, Bronwyn came up tops to win the B Division title as well as the Closed trophy.
The C Division played 36 holes Individual Stableford and, with course proving to be tough, Irene Country Clubs Di Dyason had 2 good rounds with 33 and 31 points respectively to win the Bronze trophy for 2018.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the awesome lucky draw prize, of a trip for 2 people to Reunion, including flights courtesy of Air Austral, 5 nights accommodation courtesy of the Lux St Gilles, excursions and transfers courtesy of Reunitours. A huge thank you to the Reunion Island Tourism Board and the Reunion Golf Association for this fantastic prize and also sending representation the our tournament, it is truly appreciated.
To Silver Lakes committee, members and staff a huge thank you for a fantastically hosted tournament as well as the spoils you gave to the participants! It is greatly appreciated!

On 3 September 2018 South Africa will be implementing a new Course and Slope Rating System that will influence your Handicap Calculation. Under this system, your course handicap on any given day will be determined according to the difficulty of the course you choose to play.

The 2018 GNGU Women’s Open is taking place on 1 & 2 July at Silver Lakes Golf Estate.
This year there will be a fantastic lucky draw prize for a trip for 2 to Reunion Island.

The 2018 Mid Amateur and Senior Closed tournament took place 2 & 3 June at Silver Lakes Golf Estate.
After round 1 in the Mid Amateur A Division, the leaderboard was tight at the top, with homeboy Pierre Spies who had shot 71, 1 shot ahead of Danie Viljoen and Louis Moolman, who were in turn only 1 shot ahead of another 3 players.
Derik Piek, from Waterkloof GC, having had his first ever hole-in-one on the 9th hole, was leading the A Division Senior section after shooting 73, 5 shots ahead of his nearest rival.
The tournament would prove that holding the first round lead was a huge advantage, when both Pierre Spies and Derik Piek were crowned Champions in their age groups after the end of round 2.
The Union would like to extend a huge thank you to Silver Lakes Management, staff and Committee for their fantastic hospitality during the event, as well as Silver Lakes members for giving up the course Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning in order to host this event.
We would also like to thank all players for participating in the tournament and congratulate all relevant divisional winners.
